How To Play
In Passwordle, even fairy tales need cybersecurity. Some familiar fairy tale characters are facing new situations, and your mission is to guess a five-letter password for each fairy tale character based on the clues provided.
- Passwordles are five letters. In a world where animals can talk and magic exists, why would any fairy tale character use more than one short word for digital security?
- Passwordle clues are in each fairy tale story. Hint: Click the name of each tale to become familiar with the fairy tale background and characters.
There are four stages to the game. Guess each Passwordle in six tries. Each guess must be a valid five letter word. The color of the tiles will change to show how close your guess was to the word.
W is in the word and in the correct spot.
I is in the word but in the wrong spot.
U is not in the word in any spot.
Stage One completed!
Cybersecurity Tips
- Keep portable devices in a secure location when you’re not using them. That way, they won’t get lost like Wolfie’s Tablet.
- Make sure there’s a strong password on your home Wi-Fi network so it’s not open to everyone. Check it periodically to see what devices are connected.

Little Red Riding Hood was at her grandmother’s house again. Grandmother had asked her to visit so Red could check her email inbox and text threads for phishing messages.
Using her phone, Red joined Grandmother’s House, the Wi-Fi network. She wanted Grandmother to use the Then & Now workbook from the National Cybersecurity Alliance to learn more about staying safe online.
But Red noticed that the network was unusually slow. As she reviewed the list of devices on the network, she grew concerned. “Grandmother,” she said, “what a lot of strange devices you have. They’re eating up your bandwidth! Why, you have Wolfie’s Tablet on your network, even though the Wolf isn’t here.” She searched the small house and found the tablet under Grandmother’s bed, but it was locked with a five-letter passcode.
Help Red crack the passcode to Wolfie’s Tablet so she can remove it from the network.
